Websites are essential in today’s tech-dominant world. Most businesses don’t last long without an online presence. Even local businesses can benefit from a simple website, as more often than not, their customers will look online first. Since you probably understand why a website is important, the main issue we are going to look at here is whether a professionally designed website is worth the money.

Designing a website is really not that complicated, despite what you may think. Content management systems like WordPress are easy to use thanks to highly intuitive drag and drop user interfaces. It takes most people a few hours to get the hang of adding pages and changing the theme to something different. It’s also very simple to add content, and if you want a blog in your website, no problem. However, running a small business is time consuming and you may not have the technical know-how or inclination to spend building a website. You could delegate the responsibility to an employee, or you could call in a favour and ask a friend to do the job, but if neither of these are an option, it is worth speaking to a professional web designer.
Using a Web Design Agency
Starting a business is stressful enough without having to worry about technical things you know nothing about. This is why many small businesses opt to hire a website design agency. There are plenty of people who create websites for businesses. Google “Magento agency” and you will see lots of options. The hard part is selecting the right agency for your business. Larger agencies typically work with corporate clients. These people have huge budgets and a lot of complex requirements for a website. A small business owner won’t have deep pockets, so in this instance, it is better speaking to a smaller web design agency who specialises in helping small businesses to get online.
Local is often better, as you have the option to go into the agency and chat in person about what you want from your website. Be very clear about your budget and make sure you give the go-ahead in writing before the agency carries out work on your behalf. This avoids any misunderstandings further down the line. If you already have a domain name, great, but if not, your web designer can organise this for you, along with a hosting package. Many agencies offer this as part of the website design package, although read the small print, as you might have a problem moving your website to a new provider if the company doesn’t transfer ownership of the domain.
Hire a Freelancer
Hiring a freelancer is something worth considering, as this can sometimes be cheaper. It is easy to find freelance web design consultants online. Many are cheaper than established agencies as they don’t have the same overheads. Speak to a few and check their rates, but remember that you will need to manage the process more closely.
A website design agency is great if you need guiding through the process, but if you have some experience, do it yourself or hire a freelancer.
